OVIEDO, Fla. – Some drivers in Oviedo unknowingly drove over a gator hanging out in a storm pipe under Lockwood Boulevard.
The city posted on Facebook on Thursday that crews were conducting a routine check of the pipe when they found the gator “just chillin’.”

According to the city, a contractor was inspecting the pipe for “cracks and anomalies” when they came across the gator.
“Thankfully, there were no cracks or issues found in the pipe. The alligators can easily maneuver in and out of the pipes and the Econolockhatchee River is in this area,” the city said.
Crews also found a gator two years ago while checking out a series of potholes that appeared along Lockwood Boulevard.
The city’s robot — a four-wheel robotic camera — followed it through the pipe for about 340 feet.
