SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Seven people, including six children, were hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after an SUV veered off Gateway Drive and crashed into a tree, according to Seminole County Fire Department officials.
The crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. along a curved section of the roadway near Gateway Drive and Keller Road. A white Ford SUV appeared to have lost control and struck a tree off the side of the road.

Emergency crews say the children involved range in age from 3 to 13 years old. At least three of the children suffered serious injuries, and the adult driver was transported as a trauma alert. A child’s car seat could be seen inside the SUV at the scene.
Video from the scene shows the SUV heavily damaged against a tree. First responders blocked traffic in the area while they extricated the occupants from the vehicle.
Authorities have not yet determined what caused the crash. The Seminole County Fire Department said Altamonte Springs police also responded to the scene and are assisting in the investigation.
