These 6 Central Florida restaurants were shut down last week. Here’s why

Roaches, rodents and more cited for closures, reports show

Last week, another half-dozen restaurants across Central Florida were told to close after they were visited by a health inspector, according to the Florida DBPR.

Reports show that these businesses were cited for reasons including rodent droppings, cockroaches found crawling inside, and food being improperly stored.

As of Monday, all of these eateries have met inspection standards and were thus allowed to reopen.

Below is the full list of Central Florida restaurants closed between May 26 and June 1.


APOPKA

  • Robinson’s Restaurant — 301 W. Main Street
    • 5/28: Around 20 live roaches were found in the cooking area, several ingredients in the walk-in cooler suffered temperature abuse after a compressor went out due to evening storms, and a chemical spray bottle was stored with its nozzle on straws.
    • 5/29: Several live roaches were still found on walls in the kitchen.
    • 5/30: Met inspection standards

DAYTONA

  • Johnny Rockets — 250 N. Atlantic Ave.
    • 5/27: Several rodent droppings were found inside.
    • 5/27: Met inspection standards

OVIEDO

  • Breakfast Club Oviedo — 1977 Alafaya Trail
    • 5/26: Six live roaches were found inside, and an employee was spotted using bare hands to make contact with ready-to-eat food from the grill.
    • 5/27: Met inspection standards

PALM HARBOR

  • Thai Nana Restaurant — 1458 Alt 19 N.
    • 5/29: Over a dozen rodent droppings were discovered in the washing and dining areas.
    • 5/30: Met inspection standards

ST. PETERSBURG

  • The Violet Stone — 2134 9 Ave. N.
    • 5/28: Over a dozen live flies were found in the kitchen, raw chicken was stored over unwashed produce, rodent activity was discovered inside, a live roach was seen behind the prep table, and several ingredients were improperly stored over 41 degrees.
    • 5/29: Met inspection standards

TAMPA

  • Good Taste — 8221 N. Florida Ave.
    • 5/28: Dozens of rodent droppings were found in the cooking area.
    • 5/29: Met inspection standards
