Firefighters respond to Ohio Avenue

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Nine dogs were found dead following a shed fire early Sunday near Altamonte Springs, according to the Seminole County Fire Department.

Units responded around 3 a.m., arriving to find two sheds on fire between houses on Broadway Street and Ohio Avenue, respectively, fire department spokespersons said in a series of statements.

The nine dogs were found dead in a kennel that was attached to the shed along Broadway Street, according to a statement that went on to classify itself as a clarification from the fire department’s initial messaging.

No firefighters were hurt and no injuries to civilians had been confirmed at the time of this writing, the fire department said, adding neither of the houses appear damaged.

The state has since determined that the fire was accidental and electrical in nature, according to the fire department.

Clarification:

The fire department’s initial description of the scene stated “one of the sheds contained multiple dogs.” The fire department has since clarified that the dogs were in a kennel attached to a shed.
