Seminole County issues precautionary boil water notice due to water treatment plant malfunction

Notice will remain in effect until bacteriological survey shows water is safe to drink

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Seminole County on Monday announced a system wide precautionary boil advisory due to a malfunction at the water treatment plant.

The malfunction, which caused the pressure to drop below 20 psi, was dealt with by flushing out the distribution system and restoring the power, officials said in a post on Facebook.

The county has commenced taking bacteriological samples as a precautionary measure.

The county advised that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient, the county noted, and bottled water may be used alternatively.

The notice will remain in effect until the bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink, the announcement stated and added that this advisory only applies to residents with county water connections. It does not apply to city water customers.
