Navigating Central Florida’s newest ramps: The Wekiva Parkway extension

Just because a roadway gets a facelift doesn’t always mean drivers know exactly how to use it — and that’s perfectly understandable.

Over the past year, I’ve been following the progress on the massive updates at I-4, SR-417 and the new Wekiva Parkway extension. Now, with much of the work finally complete, it’s time for us to take a closer look.

The new ramps and extensions aren’t just impressive — they’re truly designed to improve the way we move through some of Central Florida’s busiest areas.

As a self-proclaimed traffic nerd, I’ll admit it: I get a little too excited when these new roadways open up. There’s something oddly satisfying about gliding across the elevated ramps — at times, it almost feels like you’re piloting a fighter jet as you shift directions high above the interstate.

But for all the excitement, the most important thing is that drivers know how to safely navigate these new connections. That’s exactly why we’re taking a ride today. We’ll cruise through the new Wekiva Parkway extension, check out the finished ramps, and make sure you know exactly where the new exits are located.

So buckle up, join me for the drive, and let’s make sure these new routes work for you the way they were intended to.
