Hazy Skies? Blame the Saharan Dust! 🌫️

Hi there, Insiders, welcome to this week’s News 6 Weather Newsletter. Meteorologist Michelle Morgan with you.

Now, if you’ve stepped outside recently and noticed the skies looking a little hazy or washed out, you’re not alone. That’s Saharan dust—and yes, it’s made its way all the way from Africa to Central Florida.

Saharan Dust

This dusty air mass isn’t just about interesting skies or fiery sunrises. It’s doing a few things you might not expect:

  • Lowering air quality, especially for sensitive groups like those with asthma or respiratory issues
  • Dropping rain chances, keeping them steady between 40–50% over the next several days
  • Letting the heat take center stage

So while the sunsets may look extra stunning, it’s a good idea to limit outdoor time if you’re sensitive to air quality changes. Click here to read your full forecast.
