Florida troopers investigate deadly wreck

OVIEDO, Fla. – One driver was killed and another was seriously injured early Tuesday in a head-on crash on State Road 434 in Oviedo, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal two-vehicle wreck happened around 5:05 a.m. on S.R. 434 near Hammock Lane, east of State Road 417.

All lanes of S.R. 434 were blocked in the area, but have since reopened.

According to the FHP, a 2022 Nissan Altima was traveling east on S.R. 434 approaching Hammock Lane when the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, causing the car to travel into the westbound lane and in the direct path of a 2018 Jeep Compass.

The front of the Nissan struck the front of the Jeep, causing the Jeep to become fully engulfed in flames, the FHP said.
