Central Florida seeing more sea breeze storms. Here’s what to expect

Heavy rain, thunderstorms likely across Orlando area

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is expected to see an uptick in sea breeze-driven thunderstorm activity Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Rain chances are forecast to reach 60%, with scattered storms expected produce heavy downpours that may lead to minor flooding.

Many locations could see up to 2 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts.

Storm impacts

Around lunchtime, there’s about a 30% chance for a few isolated showers, mainly developing near the I-4 corridor and becoming scattered through the afternoon.

Most of the rain and storms are expected to shift to the west along the I-75 corridor during the late afternoon into the evening hours.

These storms are tied to the familiar summer sea breeze pattern, which often leads to scattered storms during the hottest parts of the day.

With conditions remaining sticky and daytime highs sticking in the lower 90s, be prepared for a muggy afternoon.

Expect high temperatures hovering in the low 90s, with overnight lows in the upper 70s. Most days carry a 60% chance of scattered storms, following the same sea breeze pattern.

There may be a slight break in rain chances Saturday, but they are expected to ramp back up again Sunday and into next week.
